The introduction of E-Invoicing in KSA will occur in two phases. In the first phase, which came into effect on December 4th, 2021, applicable to all taxpayers (excluding non-resident taxpayers), as well as parties issuing tax invoices on behalf of VAT-liable suppliers, electronic invoice issuance will closely resemble the invoices generated prior to December 4, 2021. These invoices will be produced through a compliant electronic solution and will include additional fields based on the type of transaction. The second phase, set to be enforceable in stages from January 1st, 2023, necessitates the integration of the electronic solution with ZATCA’s systems, and e-invoices must be generated in the prescribed format.
